Oceanus was relieved when he nodded. "I’m fine, Oceanus. Not hurt. I’m just happy." said Chao. Oceanus smiled, now relieved that she didn't have to use her healbending. The female smiled a bit wider when Chao answered in response to her declaration of her not wanting him to leave. "Very well, Lady Oceanus. If you’d like, I will stay here with you. Give me but a moment to change into my pajamas. I don’t sleep in my tuxedo, sadly." said the man. The joke emitted a giggle from her mouth before Chao kissed her on the lips once again which sent Oceanus off into a realm of bliss. She could get used to kissing.

Oceanus watched as Chao got up and walked away to get changed. The princess looked at animus. "What am I going to do?" whispered the girl to the dog as if the wolf had have wisdom on love or what just happened. Animus only simply nudged at her hand to be petted before settling into the dog bed located on the floor next to her bed. Oceanus slipped under the covers and tried to prepare herself for falling asleep, just in case she did happen to fall asleep. Though of course if that happened, Chao would've probably manage to slip her underneath the covers and tuck her in. Then Chao returned back to her room. She noticed that he had let his ponytail free. He looked quite... handsome with that. She blushed and smiled, hoping he wouldn't notice. He sat on the bed next to her. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Princess. Are you ok? Want to talk about how you feel or anything? Have any questions I might be able to answer? " asked the male.

The princess blinked at him and thought about it. "U-uhm... yeah I'm fine and I h-honestly d-don't know... I'm s-still confused... about everything." said the female. She let out a yawn, signaling that she was now tired. Probably from all of the stress caused by recent events. She could feel his hand stroking her hair. It was strangely calming to her. "When you do that... i-it's very calming." said the girl softly. Her eyelids dropping every so slightly. "I know a thing that I liked that happened tonight..." whispered the girl as if it was a secret. She looked at Chao rather sleepily, her eyes no straining to keep open. "I like the kisses." whispered the tired princess as she drifted off into a state of unconsciousness where hopefully she had some sweet dreams.

the things that you might like don't grow inside of me I’m sorry to confuse you, Princess. I apologize. Chao apologized for her confusion. He had done a really selfish thing. He pushed his emotions on someone else and had, potentially, hurt them. Maybe. He merely smiled when she said that him stroking her hair was calming. At least he did something right. Everything he did might have been right, he’d just have to see. His smile widened when Oceanus stated that she really liked the kisses, then drifted off to sleep. So adorable. He leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on the girl’s forehead before sliding off the bed slowly, carefully, so as not to wake the princess. We walked to his room and grabbed his pillow and blanket, then returned to Oceanus’s room, where he laid on the floor and drifted off to sleep himself. Morning broke and he was awake early, before the princess. He had to make breakfast after all. But first he had to take a little care of himself. Morning routine and all. Bathroom, then some early morning stretches. Nothing major. After he was finished, Chao found his way downstairs to the kitchen, where he began preparing breakfast. A meal consisting of tea, eggs, bacon and wheat buns. The aroma of food began to fill the house. The smell of a good morning meal. Chao plated Oceanus’s food when it was finished, made her cup of tea, then carried all of it up to her room on a tray. He slowly opened the door, danced across the floor, then set the tray down over her lap. Lady Oceanus, I’ve made you breakfast. He whispered to the sleeping girl. It didn’t wake her, so he leaned forward and planted a gentle, loving kiss upon her lips. That got her. Good morning, ma’lady. He smiled at the girl, still very close to her from the kiss. @tag

Oceanus could feel herself becoming aware of thing slowly. She felt something being set on her lap and then a voice. Who was there? Why was it so warm? Did her home have a global warming? Then something touched her lips, someone was kissing her. She opened her eyes only to see Chao extremely close to her. "Good morning, ma’lady." said the male, smiling at her. Oceanus remembered that she wasn't at home, not anymore. She was here in Republic City with a butler that had confessed his undying love to her last night.

She smiled warmly, her eyes not fully ready to open. She slept too comfortably last night. "Good morning Chao." murmured Oceanus, letting out a yawn. Then she saw all of the food that laid out before her on her lap. She carefully got up into a sitting position. She was surprisingly hungry. "Thank you for the food... you didn't have to do that." said the female, letting out a shy chuckle. She took her eating utensil and started eating her meal that had been laid out before her. She started with the eggs, then moved onto the wheat buns and bacon. Once all of the food was gone, Oceanus set down her utensil and picked up her cup of tea where she took a sip.

Then out of the corner from her eye, she spotted something on the floor. Out of curiousity she peeked over the side of her bed where she saw a pillow and a blanket. Oceanus looked at Chao. "You slept on the floor?" whispered the girl. "Y-you di-didn't have to d-do that... I'd imagine th-that the floor wasn't comfortable..." said the female, now worried that he was going to be all sore from sleeping on the floor. Oceanus placed a finger on her lips, remembering that she was being kissed. She looked confused and glanced up at Chao. "Did you kiss me this morning?" asked the female, as if she was unsure of what she felt before she woke up.

The female looked at her tray and smiled. "I need to get dressed... I want to pick out my clothes." said the female softly, smiling.

the things that you might like don't grow inside of me She was so adorable when she woke up. Well, Oceanus was always adorable to Chao it seemed. But I did, ma’lady. I couldn’t have you going hungry, could I? he smiled with a bow when she thanked him for the food. Even if he weren’t her butler, he’d happily cook for her. He waited for her while she ate, kind of trying to make the whole watching someone eat part as not-awkward as he could. She finished rather quickly. Must have been hungry. Who isn’t in the morning? Then she noticed his “bed”, aka the floor. He was mentally kicking himself for not picking his things up. How could he be this forgetful? I did sleep on the floor, ma’lady. You didn’t want to be alone, so I slept as close to you as I could. I didn’t think you wanted me in bed with you, so the floor was the best place. I’m fine, ma’lady, I promise. He smiled big, bowing once more. So she didn’t realize he had kissed her this morning. Yes, Lady Oceanus. I kissed you this morning. I do hope that’s ok. Please tell me if I overstep my boundaries. Like he hadn’t already. Aside from basically being living, breathing sex toys; butlers rarely had a relationship with their masters. Mayhaps she didn’t want him to kiss her anymore, even though the night before she said she liked the kisses. Chao lifted the tray up from Oceanus’s lap so she could get up and begin picking out clothing. He smiled at her. What would you like to do today, my Master? Anything special? Chao asked as he set aside the tray and approached the girl slowly. How did you sleep, my lo… Ma’lady? Did you have any dreams? Oh, and how would you like me to wake you up in the morning? Let you sleep in or wake you up at a specific time? What do you like to eat for breakfast, by the way? I hope today’s was ok… He started, panicking a little. He didn’t really want to mess anything up for her. Would you like for me to aid you in getting dressed? @tag

"But I did, ma’lady. I couldn’t have you going hungry, could I?" said Chao. She smiled, well that part was true. But she still could've gotten up and ate in the kitchen like a normal person would. "I did sleep on the floor, ma’lady. You didn’t want to be alone, so I slept as close to you as I could. I didn’t think you wanted me in bed with you, so the floor was the best place. I’m fine, ma’lady, I promise." said Chao, trying to convince her.

Oceanus looked at him questionably. She had felt on the floor and it wasn't enjoyable. But... Oceanus will wasn't okay with it. "I don't wan't you to sleep on the floor like a dog.. No offense to Animus but still... you're not a dog. You're... a very kind human being." said the princess, smiling warmly. "Yes, Lady Oceanus. I kissed you this morning. I do hope that’s ok. Please tell me if I overstep my boundaries." said the butler. Oceanus blushed lightly, looking off to the side. "I-i I don't know wh-what b-boundaries are appropriate." said the female shyly. Chao lifted the tray from her lap. "What would you like to do today, my Master? Anything special?" asked Chao. The female thought to herself about it, she honestly had no idea. "I-i I don't know.." She didn't know what to do in this city or in this home.

She honestly just wanted to be with him. Spend time with Chao. "How did you sleep, my lo… Ma’lady? Did you have any dreams? Oh, and how would you like me to wake you up in the morning? Let you sleep in or wake you up at a specific time? What do you like to eat for breakfast, by the way? I hope today’s was ok… " asked Chao, the questions overwhelming her already. Oceanus didn't know where to start now. "I-i slept really good.. And I-i don't know, i-it depends wh-what we're do-doing that day? And br-breakfast was fi-fine." said Oceanus, smiling gently. "Would you like for me to aid you in getting dressed? asked the male. She smiled and shook her head, signaling she would not need the aid.

She kicked off the covers and slipped down from the bed, landing on her feet. Then she walked over to the dresser where Chao had place the new clothes away. She opened one of them, pondering over what shorts she wanted to wear. Then her eyes caught something that she had forgotten about. The necklace. Her heart felt like it was stabbed and twisted with a knife. She had done a very horrible thing. She brought her hand up to her mouth. She couldn't speak. Panic seized her body like a disease. Tears threatened to spill out of her eyes. What was she going to tell Chao? He love with an undying affection it seemed like. And Oceanus didn't know how she felt about it in thefirst place but she knew that she didn't want to be with Kemono. She didn't want to return back to that life.

A heart-wrenching sob tore out of her mouth followed by many sniffles. She buried her face into her hands and dropped to the floor as if she lost all of the strength she had. She wasn't sure if Chao was in the room. Oceanus held her betrothal necklace in her hand and she threw it at the ground in front of her as if it would disappear and Kemono would be simply forgotten. "Oh Chao.. I did a horrible thing..." sobbed the female. Tears now streaking down her cheeks and moistening her skin. She sniffed, still crying.

the things that you might like don't grow inside of me Chao listened to everything Oceanus said, nodding to her every word. She no longer wanted him to sleep on the floor, which he could do. He would sleep on spikes if he had to, but his master wished for him not to. So he’d find somewhere else to sleep, but he wanted to be closer than his room. He smiled softly. Oceanus really was so innocent. He’d have to teach her so much. Like boundaries and stuff like that. Not like he minded. He was extremely glad that breakfast was good, though. Even though he could tell from how she ate everything on the plate, it was nice to hear her say it. Upon Oceanus’s gesture of not needing any help getting dressed, Chao turned to leave and give her personal space. Not but a moment later, he heard her sob and spun on his heels. She was on the floor and her face was in her hands. He was almost frozen until he heard her speak his name. What followed his name was… disheartening. She’d done a terrible thing. Chao’s heart was beating, pounding against his chest. He had to move. Move damn you. Chao slid next to the girl and hugged her to his chest, gently stroking her hair and humming a light tune. Lady Oceanus, I’m sure you did nothing wrong… Tell me, I’m here for you. He spoke softly to the girl, trying to soothe her. His eyes scanned the ground around her only to see the necklace. Unfortunately, he was unfamiliar of Water Tribe culture, so he had no idea what that could be. He didn’t see it on her the day before, so that was strange. His arms tightened around the girl a bit, not enough to irritate her burn, but enough to hold her to him, to let her feel his heart beat and maybe calm her. Oceanus, I’m here, you can tell me anything. I promise I won’t get mad, I’ll protect you. He smiled down at the girl, trying to soothe her fears. One of his hands still ran through her hair and the other gently wiped away her tears. His heart was in so much pain, watching as the girl he loved cried. No matter what you did or didn’t do, I will protect you. @tag

It seemed like it was in an instant that Chao appeared by her side. So he wasn't lying when he said to call his name and he'll come running. That thought only made her sob more. His arms hugged her to his chest where her tears would soon spoil his attire. She heard a light humming emitting from Chao. Why was he humming? She was confused but that didn't stop her waterworks. "Lady Oceanus, I’m sure you did nothing wrong… Tell me, I’m here for you." said Chao softly.

Oceanus couldn't do this to him. She couldn't. His arms tightened around her, tight enough that she could hear his heartbeat. "Oceanus, I’m here, you can tell me anything. I promise I won’t get mad, I’ll protect you." said Chao as he smiled at the girl. Oceanus only held onto him and buried her face into his chest, her sobs still continuing. "N-no... I-i've do-done so-something bad. So-something I should-should've told y-you ye-yesterday." bawled Oceanus. One of his hand ran through her hair and the other wiped away her tears, but they were only replaced with more. "No matter what you did or didn’t do, I will protect you." promised the male. Oceanus sniffled more. "I-i I know... bu-but you wouldn't want t-to be with me..." whispered the girl trying to hold back her tears.

Oceanus couldn't decide if she should tell him or not. She had no idea. Would Chao still want to be with her in terms of love? Would he just bottle it all up? Or would he stop loving her? Either way. She knew she needed to tell him. "I-i ha-ve t-to te-tell you s-something... It's... It's a-about Kemono." said the female nervously, afraid of what Chao would do after hearing his name. "U-uhm... When a water t-tribe princess tu-turns sixteen, they ty-typically ge-get married o-off. I-i'm sev-seventeen now.. A-and..." Oceanus didn't know if she could continue on. Her heart was being torn into shreds. Is this what love feels like? THat you wouldn't bear the thought of being away from this one person?

More tears slid down her cheeks. "Wh-when you're engaged in Water Tribe c-culture. The man ha-has to carve a ne-necklace and gi-give it to the br-bride-to-be..." said the girl softly, afraid that Chao might start piecing all of this together already. "A-and.. i-i-i-i'm e-e-en-engaged to... K-k-kemono." stuttered Oceanus. She was so nervous that her whole body shook. More tears spilled down her cheeks as she cried even more. More noisy sobbing escaped her mouth then she suddenly went on a splurge of talking in her uncontrolled high pitched voice. "I-i don't wanna be with him. He's not nice and he's so abusive. I'm so so so afraid of him. He's the one who paid the firebender to break into my home and burn me because he wanted to scare me into never leaving him so he would be the chief for sure. He used be so nice but he's changed and I don't wanna be with him.... I don't wanna be with him... I can't. I've been wearing a mask of happiness up until I met you. I love you. I just wanna be with you."

Oceanus held onto him as tightly as she could as if she feared that he would disappear from his arms. She was really having a breakdown. But what she didn't realize was that she had actually confessed her true feeling since they were now out in the open. This whole time she had a box that contained her true feelings. The box was pried open with the meeting of Chao. It was suddenly unlocked open when Chao had confessed that he loved her. "Please... don't leave me...." whimpered the girl. She truly was in a fragile state.

the things that you might like don't grow inside of me And everything kind of crumbled. Chao listened to the girl’s words and, in the beginning, they cut him. So she was engaged to the bastard from the day before. A forced marriage. Not of love. Not of passion. Of selfishness and idiocy. He could feel anger raising, not at Oceanus, but at the entirety of her Tribe. At Kemono. If he ever got his hands on that bastard… While all this hatred and anger were brewing on the inside, he had to remain calm on the outside. He just continued to hold her, hum, and wipe away her tears. He couldn’t let her feel his anger. She’d misunderstand and then everything would break even more. It wasn’t until the girl’s high pitched speech that the words stopped cutting him like the dullest daggers. Slow and extremely painful. Then she said it. She said that she loved him. He felt as her grip tightened and she pleaded him to not leave. Like he would. His hand cupped her cheek gently and turned her face to look at him. His anger had subsided and he just smiled lovingly at the girl. Oceanus… I promised you that I’d protect you from him. From anything. I said I’d be by your side forever. This just changes one thing… He smiled at the girl before grabbing the necklace and crushing the carving. You won’t be needing that anymore. I don’t care how many armies I have to fight, I won’t let you marry him. He smiled and kissed her tenderly, their bodies closer than ever before. His lips parted from her’s and a single tear cut its path down his cheek. Now stop crying, Oceanus… I’m never leaving you. I promise. He smiled as another tear followed the last one. Then another. He wiped away the girl’s tears before kissing her once more. Then again. Then again. Each kiss just as passionate, if not more, than the last. His hands cupped her cheeks, but eventually slid down her body so his arms could wrap around her middle once more and hold them as close as he could. @tag

While Oceanus cried and spoke, she could feel his deathly silence. He never spoke a word until she was all done talking. She jumped as Chao cupped her cheek gently, tugging on to look directly at him then he smiled at her. Oceanus' eyebrows knitted together in confusion. He was smiling? He's happy? About what? "Oceanus… I promised you that I’d protect you from him. From anything. I said I’d be by your side forever. This just changes one thing…" said Chao and with that, he managed to surprise her one again. He had grabbed and crushed the necklace. Chao had gotten rid of another bad memory just like that. Oceanus' mouth gaped open.

"You won’t be needing that anymore. I don’t care how many armies I have to fight, I won’t let you marry him." said the male as he smiled more and kissed her. Oceanus' lips actually managed to kiss back but she was still shocked. It was as if he took her collar off. Her neck felt less... confined. Then she saw a tear on his face once again. "Now stop crying, Oceanus… I’m never leaving you. I promise." said Chao as he smiled. More tears slid down his cheek and Oceanus reached up to wipe it away. Her tears had also stopped mostly other than Oceanus trying to catch her breath. "I-i-i. I can't believe you just did that. Y-you have a knack of getting rid of bad things from me." whispered the girl, her blue eyes wide. "An-and how are you gonna stop t-the ma-marriage?" asked the princess.

But he simply wiped away her tears, probably moistening his sleeves. Then he kissed her. Then again, and again. She had never felt this way before. The kiss between meant something more than just a kiss. Oceanus was breathless from the kisses. His hands cupped her cheeks before sliding down her body where his arms wrapped around her middle and held her as close as he could. Oceanus' red eyes, worn out from crying, looked up at the male. "How did I end up with you? Y-you're so nice... and sweet... It m-makes me think I-i don't deserve you..."whispered the princess, her arms still wrapped around his neck. She felt so vulnerable now. What happens when Kemono finds out? He surely tell her father that she was... cheating on him and she would be banished from the tribe. No. No. That couldn't happen. She was the only heir. People needed to find the truth about him and she was sure people will in time. Not now. But in time. But she was still uneasy.

"B-bu-but technically, I-i'm cheating. I doubt you'd want to be with me." whispered the girl.

She kissed back every time. It felt like the completion of one person, if only to him. She might have felt the same. Only she knew. Oceanus continued to put herself down, even after all those kisses, then said something that actually surprised Chao. She said that she was technically cheating and that he probably didn’t want to be with her. A chuckle escaped his lips. Oceanus… I want you more than anything in this life. You said it yourself, you don’t want to be with him, so you don’t have to be. We’ll… cross the bridge of what I’ll do to stop it later, but from now on… He whispered to the girl, planting another tender kiss on her lips. You aren’t engaged to him. I don’t care what I have to do. He resolved. His hands massaged the girl’s back gently before moving up slightly and one began stroking her hair again. I’ll protect you, Oceanus, I swear. I love you. He whispered to the girl. Just breathe. I’m here. His hand ran its course through her hair over and over before he laid back, allowing Oceanus to rest atop him. His chest, her pillow. His arms, her blanket. @tag

The princess was surprised to hear a chuckle from his lips. He was willing to be with her? Even if she was technically cheating? "Oceanus… I want you more than anything in this life. You said it yourself, you don’t want to be with him, so you don’t have to be. We’ll… cross the bridge of what I’ll do to stop it later, but from now on…" whispered the male, planting a tender kiss on her lips. "You aren’t engaged to him. I don’t care what I have to do." declared Chao. With those words, she felt free. He managed to eliminate the foreboding shadow of Kemono that hung over her like a bad omen.

She was finally free. The necklace was gone, though it was a shame to see the beautiful carving get destroyed but it was something that needed to be done for a long time. His hand massaged the girl's back, it was oddly comforting. Her uncontrolled breaths had calmed down some. Then Chao stroked her hair once again. Stroking her hair seemed to be Chao's favorite choice of activity with her. "I’ll protect you, Oceanus, I swear. I love you." said Chao in a whisper. Oceanus closed her eyes. He told her that he loved her again. She didn't know what to say back. She had never told him I love you despite the fact that she had said it before though she didn't know that she said it outloud. She didn't know what to feel. All she knew was that she wanted was not to be with Kemono. "Just breathe. I’m here." comforted the man. His hand ran through her hair then he laid back, taking her down with him for her to rest atop of him.

Oceanus' breathing had finally gotten back to normal, a little shaky but mostly normal. The female nuzzled her cheek into his chest. "I'm so tired now..." whispered the girl before her eyelids closed then she murmured: "I love you. I do."
