we're the face of a new generation NAME | Ren Fei-Long ALIAS | The One-Eyed Dragon; a name derived from the fact that Ren lost her left eye and now conceals it. She has also been called the 'Princess of Ruin', a name derived from her abilities on the battlefield and policy towards her enemies and those of the Fire Nation. It is often seen pulled back into a high pony tail with a series of long bangs often falling around her face or up in a more traditional manner. EYE | Her eyes are known to be brown in color, or rather the right eye, which is the only one visible. Her left eye is almost always covered by an eyepatch to conceal that the pupil has long since turned a cloudy shade of white and that Ren is completely blind in this eye. ATTIRE | Ren has two very distinct styles of dress, her more formal feminine attire and her field uniform, though is most commonly seen in the latter, which tends to resemble that of soldier rather than a princess. In this uniform, she usually wears a simple dark blue gi top with matching pair of pants. A white sash is tied around the waist to serve as a belt, from which her sword is often hung proudly. The bottom of the gi pants tapper down into a pair of black tabi boots that extend from just below the knee. Over this outfit, Ren wears a rather recognizable and very distinctive white long coat that is trimmed in red and falls past the back of her knees in length. The outfit is rounded off by a pair of wooden sandals that are worn on the feet, along with a simple black eyepatch that is worn over her left eye. In her more feminine attire, Ren wears a dark red or pink kimono style top which comes to just above the knee in length. The top is tied by a black and gold sash, which can still allow her to carry her sword, if need be. The bandaging which she often uses to bind her breast in combat is removed and grants a far more flattering feminine shape. Over the top of the kimono, she wears a black or dark purple haori coat with long sleeves that sometimes has flowers embroidered into them, along with a pair of tall matching black boots that extend up to the thigh and have a slightly heel to them. Ren is also known to wear her hair up in more decorative and tradition manner with a flowered hair pin is added. Her black eyepatch is also replaced with one that is made in the shape of a flower to appear more feminine. ABNORMALITIES | Ren has acquired several  scars over the years from combat and battle. However, the most prominent scar is  a thin cross-shaped scar along the right side of her abdomen that measures about five inches in length and three inches in width. She also have several smaller scars across her hands from years of swordsmanship training, as well as a thin scar over her left eye, which she often uses an eyepatch to conceal. Aside from her more obvious talents and ability to manipulate lightning with relative ease, she was also trained in various styles of martial arts and weaponry. She has a great deal of knowledge when it comes to comes to hand-to-hand combat, as well as with weapons like the tessen and polearms. However, it is her abilities with a sword that tend to distinguish Ren the most from others around her. A master with the blade, Ren is notorious for combining her abilities as a firebender and her swordplay in a single art form that can be both very beautiful and very dangerous. WEAPONS | Ren carries only a few weapons on her, though the most notable and most relied on is a single katana, which is almost always at her sides, whether dressed like a soldier or princess. The blade was forged by one of the finest blacksmiths in the Fire Nation and has survived many battles. It is carried in a solid black sheath with a gold tsuba or guard, while the hilt is wrapped in red silk. Ren is also known for carrying a black tessen or bladed Fan, composed of more than a dozen twelve inch long steel plates concealed in the sash beneath her coat. Each plate has been sharped down to a razors edge and can be used to deflect an attack or lash out at an enemy. However, because it resembles a common fan so greatly, it easily serves as a concealed weapon when she is traveling or when it court.  PET | N/A your skin is burning at the sight of me HISTORY | Ren was born twenty-three years ago in the Fire Nation Capital, as the oldest daughter of the current Fire Lord and his wife. Her birth and status as the new heir was celebrated with a great deal of joy, and the years that followed were much the same. Ren was often fawned over by her servants and retainers, affection that proved to be rather suffocating at times. Nonetheless, even at an early age, she proved to be a very bright and intelligent child. However, it was until Ren witnessed a demonstration by the troops of the Fire Nation's military that she became absolutely enamored with combat. When she wasn't learning from various firebending masters, she began reading about the arts of war and studying from every book that she could get her hands on. Of course, given her position, this proved to be quite a few. By the time that Ren was around twelve years old, she was considered to be an accomplished firebender and was considered old enough to travel with her father to inspect the troops. It was during one such mission that she managed to wander off from the protection of her aids and was granted a new understanding of what war really meant. As it turned out, an assassination attempt had been planned to intercept the Fire Lord on the visit. Unfortunately, it was Ren who managed to stumble onto them first. The assassins attacked and Ren attempted to defend herself, but those action proved in vain when their numbers got the better of her and she was soon thwarted with a gash to her left eye blinded and left her vulnerable. In a final act of survival, Ren lashed out, drawing enough attention to alert the nearby soldiers and severely burning the culprits. As the assassins ran off, Ren soon collapsed into the arms of a soldier and woke up some time later. The men responsible were quickly caught and easily identified by the horrible burns they'd sustained. Despite having gone off on her own, Ren was hailed as something of a hero for thwarting her father's attempted assassination and her actions that had led to their capture. However, she would pay a heavy price for this bravery as it was soon discovered that her left eye would never heal and had been permanently blinded. Still, the sacrifice became something of a legend, an act of true devotion to one's country and their family. The loss was still a bitter one for Ren though, as she was now forced to wear an eyepatch constantly to conceal the injury. Sickened at how close she'd come to death and her ineptness to deal with the assassins alone, Ren soon requested that her father allow her to be trained along side the soldiers of the fire nation. While the act was certainly not unheard of, Ren was still barely a teenage and her family still hesitant to avoid another close brush with death for the young heir. It was finally agreed that she would be placed under the tutelage of a sword master and retired High General, and when he deemed her worthy to train as a solider, then she would be granted the chance. Ren agreed to the terms and expected to make as short a work of the old man as she had her former tutors, but was given something of a surprise during their first sparring match. Enamored with the old man's skill, Ren begged him to teach her the art of the sword and for the next six years focused on little else outside of her studies. Her wish was finally granted at eighteen, though the training proved to be difficult, Ren remained undeterred in her goal to serve the Fire Nation as more than a simple weak figurehead. Needless to say, her actions didn't go unnoticed by her countrymen and earned her a great deal of admiration from the Fire Nation's soldiers and it's citizens. Now an adult and a force to be reckoned with on the combat fields, she was finally allowed to participate in her father's military planning and missions. Ren's missions were small in the beginning, but a sneak attack that occurred while on one of her trips to the borders of the Fire Nation, soon left Ren in a very troubling predicament. When the commanding officer was gravely injured and taken from the field, the troops morale was shaken and they were on the verge of retreat and loosing ground. In a split second decision, Ren dawned the familiar white coat and took a position near the front lines and ordered the men to hold their positions and guard her back. Stirred by her words and bravery, the men did as they were ordered and because of the coat were easily able to locate here position throughout the entire chaos of the battle, the soldiers held their ground, unwilling to turn their backs while a woman remained boldly in the face of the enemy. When the dust finally settled, the enemy retreated and the hero that would later come to be known as the 'Princess of Ruin' and the 'One-Eyed Dragon' was born. After proving herself more than capable as a leader, she was granted more reign to not simply participate, but lead on the battlefield. From that point, Ren became a frequent sight on the war front and developed an almost semi-legendary status as a commander. For the first couple years, Ren born no qualms with the war or the Fire Nations growing expansion. It wasn't until the age of twenty-two, after the suffering terrible wounds on the battlefield and experiencing the loss of several close friends and comrades in that war, that she really began to question the motivation and cause for which the Fire Nation was fighting. The conclusion she came to was reached after many months of studying the archives and history of the Fire Nation. Although, Ren would not openly disagree with her father or his decisions regarding matters, primarily out of a deep respect and devotion, she has recently began taking steps to settle matters not with war and bloodshed, but with diplomacy, whenever possible. While these actions offer no direct opposition to the current system or the Fire Lord, there are some within the Fire Nation courts that have begun to view the future leader with some level of wariness and even disgust, for what has been come to be seen as a hesitation to spill blood and take what they believe to be theirs. Despite this, Ren remains devoutly loyal to her family and to the Fire Nation, still serving as a commander in battle when needed or ordered to do so.
